Tom was our most capable and amiable Chair who led the meeting graciously with excellent bridging between roles. The theme was “An Evening of Speeches” and the meeting focused on five speakers at different levels deliver their projects. It was quite an event!
Troy as Grammarian chose the word of the day: Harangue (v.), meaning to lecture. Example: “My father harangued me on the folly of my ways!” We had some fun with this, especially in the Roundtable Introductions!
Our two speakers before the break were Susan, who showed us how to draw!! How exciting to see drawings transpire from such a simple stroke of the pen! Nice contribution Susan!! Lutz delivered a short presentation on making an award, which went appropriately to Maurice, as a life-time achiever – nice job Lutz, and very convincing! These speakers were evaluated by Antonella and Rosemary respectively.
Following the break Susan returned to do an amazing job as Toastmaster and introduced three speakers and evaluators: Karen delivered her 5th speech (half way through her CC: Competent Communicator), Harvey, an accomplished speaker who is going through his CTM again, delivered his 8th speech using visual aids and sharing some of the latest technology to catch impaired drivers, and Lutz returned to talk on Toastmasters and its value in our lives. Great speeches evaluated by Grace, Maurice and Rosemary respectively. Lutz won the Best Speaker Award and Maurice the Best Evaluator Award. Well done all of you, and congratulations!
The award-giving continued with a certificate presented to
Karen on her 5th speech accomplishment; well done Karen in moving towards completing your Competent Communicator.
Both Michelle and Victor received Speechcraft certificates, as they have completed six speeches towards their Competent Communicator. This is such a fine achievement within the Speechcraft program and we look forward to you joining in January to complete your goals.
Tom and Grace were given Certificates for their role in helping Speechcraft, which is a two-month commitment, so thanks to you both for your time and effort!
Quite a surprise to Maureen, as she was presented with a beautiful certificate in recognition of her role as Conference Chair of the recent Fall Conference. Thanks to the executive for their work on these awards.
Our next meeting is January 8, 2007 but we also meet on December 11 to enjoy our Christmas Party! There will be a gift exchange (really no more than $10 value!) and please advise Antonella of your pot luck delicacies!
As well, please support the Food Bank by bringing non-perishable items - thank you!
Best wishes,
