TILLICUM TOASTMASTERS CONTINUES TO BE A PRESIDENT'S DISTINGUISHED CLUB!

Meeting of Monday, August 23, 2004

We returned to Tillicum after a two-week break, and welcomed our four guests: Anita, Richard, Jeff, and Amy. Thanks so much for attending and we trust you enjoyed the evening.

Mary K was the Chair and the theme was: My Ideal Vacation Would Be ………., which prompted much response and cheerfulness. Mary joined Tillicum in April this year and has progressed so much, having completed her 7th Speech towards CTM, is Secretary on our executive, and last night chaired the meeting for the first time. Well done Mary – you certainly had your challenges during the day but they did not hamper your very professional and humorous performance last night!

Rosemary as Grammarian had the word of the day: Sojourn: a brief stay — which was very appropriate and was quite well used.

Lutz stepped into the role of Business Meeting Chair and continued as Table Topic Master. Candace won the Best Table Topics Award with her vivid description of wine tasting in the Napa Valley!

Maureen delivered the last of five projects in the Storytelling manual with the subject of “The Concrete Curtain – the Life and Death of the Berlin Wall”. Rosemary delivered the last of the Speaking to Inform projects, with “The Age of Anxiety”, for which she won the Best Speaker Award. Congratulations Rosemary on achieving your Advanced Toastmaster Bronze Award – very well done! With this award, Tillicum now has three goals towards President’s Distinguished Club and to date leads Area 80.
Do check on our club status

Maurice who also took on the role of Toastmaster, won the Best Evaluator Award for his evaluation of Maureen’s speech. Well done Maurice!

Don’t forget that we will have a wonderful evening next Monday, August 30th. Sheree from Metro Speakers will visit the club to show us her Table Topics Presentation. It’s a great presentation and should not be missed. Sheree attended Division J training in June when our executive was in attendance to see her presentation, and this prompted me to invite her to Tillicum.

It’s two months away but the executive has decided to have another Pizza Night – the first one on May 10th was very successful, so do keep a note of Monday, October 25, 2004 for this tasty delight before the night’s meeting! There will be more information on this in the upcoming weeks.

Look forward to seeing you next Monday, August 30, when Hal will be the Chair – with Chairman’s Choice – so we await to see what he has in store!
