Meeting of Monday, December 6, 2004

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!” … and that was true of our meeting this evening; a respectable turnout of 11 members and Rob, our guest. Many thanks for joining us Rob and glad you enjoyed our fun evening. Let’s hope that our members with ‘flu, sniffles, etc. will soon be well and ready for the holiday season!

Appropriate was our theme for the evening: Christmas Traditions. In his first-time role as Chair, Andrew led the meeting and did such a great job throughout – even chipping in to be Jokemaster, because Trish was suffering from ‘flu. Thanks Andrew!

George also excelled in his role as Grammarian and gave us an appropriate word of the day: Bestow: - a verb meaning to present as a gift or an honor; confer, e.g., Maureen bestowed the Beatles CD to Candace, as recognition for completing her CTM last week! Good going George, and extra kudos for highlighting Neil’s beautiful use of the English language (from a Scotsman no less!) during Table Topics and at other times during the evening.

Speaking of Table Topics, Maureen as TT Master kept to the theme of the evening, and it was Neil who spoke on “What do you want from Christmas?” who ho-ho-hoed-off with the Best Table Topics Speaker Award! Nicely and eloquently done Neil!

Lutz, our one speaker of the evening, delighted us with his annual reading of titillating tales from the Vinyl Café and won the Best Speaker Award. George, with his great evaluation, won the Best Evaluator Award.

Just a note: Rosemary, as VP Education and together with Neil, have drawn up the Assigned Roles for January to March, 2005, so do click on the link to see what lies ahead for you in the next three months! Of course, also check the Calendar of Events.

Look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Party on December 13th.
Best wishes,
