Meeting of Monday, January 10, 2005

Hello again, and glad to be back into the swing of things in 2005! We had a great turnout with members and guests for our first meeting of the year.

Welcome to our guests Rob, Mario and Martin, and Carol, a returning member. Glad to hear that you enjoyed your club visit and we look forward to seeing our first-time guests on future occasions.

Congratulations Rob on joining Tillicum, and Carol, who renewed her membership. Hope you both enjoy your Toastmaster experience.

New Year’s Resolutions: A good or bad idea – was the theme of the evening, with Lutz as Chair. The pros and cons of resolutions were discussed, with a wide variance on the topic.

Lydia, our Grammarian, gave us the word of the day: Fortitude: Strength of mind that enables a person to meet danger or bear pain or adversity with courage. The word was used frequently and wisely and we hope to have the fortitude to achieve our goals for this year!

Table Topics was as popular as ever with Grace as the Table Topics Master. The questions were based on the theme of the meeting, and Mary K won the Best Table Topics Award for her enthusiasm and innovative suggestion that September 1st rather than January 1st should be the time to make resolutions. A great idea Mary and a good way to conclude a year!

Andrew won the Best Speaker Award and all three evaluators: Alex, Mary W and Maurice achieved the Best Evaluator Award - followed by a group hug!!

Maurice will be our Chair on January 17; please check the Assigned Roles and Calendar of Events to see what’s in store at Tillicum!

Look forward to seeing you on the 17th!

Best wishes,
