Meeting of Monday, June 27, 2005

Another good turnout tonight and we again welcomed our YAMs Susannah and Naveen, and our first-time guest Mircea, invited by Kumar. Glad you enjoyed your visit Mircea and thank you for taking time to be with us at Tillicum!

A timely theme with the holiday just around the corner: O Canada – very ably chaired by Lydia. We began the meeting exercising our vocal chords in the singing of our national anthem; a nice touch Lydia!

Troy was our Grammarian and offered the word of the day: Trenchant (adj.) meaning sharply perceptive. Example: The detective solved his cases by means of trenchant observation and reasoning. Used with some frequency throughout the evening, we can add this to our w.o.d. collection!

Table Topics, very nicely delivered by Colleen, centred on Canada and things Canadian. Mary – dressed in a very colourful maple leaf variety tee-shirt covered in Canadian Tire Money - thrilled us all with what she would do if no fireworks were displayed on Canada Day! She threw her money at us!!! In return we rewarded her with the Best Table Topics Speaker Award!!!

Anita won the Best Speaker Award for her 9th speech from the Communication and Leadership Manual. Only one more project Anita and you will become a CTM – way to go! Maureen won the Best Evaluator Award for her evaluation of Anita’s speech.

There is no meeting on July 4 because of the holiday weekend.

Outgoing and incoming executive members meet at Alex’s place: 1 p.m. Sunday, July 10th.

Please join us on Monday, July 11th for our next meeting; the first meeting of a new year: 2005 – 2006. Please check the Assigned Roles and Calendar of Events as we enter this new year!

Enjoy this holiday weekend and see you on July 11th!
Best wishes,
