It was the last meeting of the year and we had another great turnout! We welcomed our first-time guests Jeff and Terry, and our returning guests Charlotte and Chris. Thank you for joining us and glad to hear you enjoyed the meeting.
An especial congratulations to Chris who, on only his second visit to the club, completed his membership application! Thanks Chris and Welcome to Tillicum! We wish you much success in your Toastmaster experience. As well, with Chris’ membership we have achieved our membership goal of eight new members since July 1st, and now have four goals towards our President’s Distinguished Club nine/ten-goal objective! Well done Tillicum! You can see here how the goals are being achieved.
Troy, in his first-time role as Chairman, did an excellent job of arranging the meeting, the theme of which was My Best Ever Present, keeping it on time, bridging, and bringing the meeting to a timely conclusion.
Leona in her first time role as Grammarian gave us the word of the day: Munificent (adj.) very liberal in giving. Example: “She enjoyed giving gifts and was very munificent with her money”. However, because we managed to avoid fines, etc., we were not very munificent in contributing to the “slush fund”! A great word and so appropriate at this time of year.
Candace, who particularly enjoys the role of Table Topics Master, presented excellent scenarios based on the evening’s theme and called on five unsuspecting contenders. All answered so well, and the Best Table Topics Award went to Kuldip R., for his imagery and humor in describing a night out with Madonna – not quite what he had in mind – and he was quite relieved to find it was all in his mind!! Great going Kuldip!
Tom in delivering his 4th speech from the CTM Manual won Best Speaker Award for his beautiful delivery of a trip to Egypt – a return to the Motherland. Well done Tom, and well done also to Maurice for once again winning the Best Evaluator Award this time for Mary's excellent performance of a two-person melodrama.
A really great night for our last formal get together. Next week is the Christmas Party – and we look forward to meeting about 6.30 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your goodies to eat and drink, and remember those who need our help by bringing items for the Food Bank.
See you on the 12th!
Best wishes,
