Our 45th birthday started bright and early with a visit to Wayne Wright, the Mayor of New Westminster, who graciously spent some time with us and spoke on the benefits of Toastmasters and how several people he knew were enjoying their Toastmaster experience. We thank the Mayor and Brian of the Communications Department for taking our photograph.
A good crowd joined in the celebrations at the club, and Mike, Maureen’s neighbour, spent all evening taking photographs, and these can be seen on the Tillicum Links. Thank you so much Mike; we know you have a very busy schedule and your time with us is very much appreciated.
We extend a big thank you too to Theresa McManus of The Record, for including an editorial in her About Town section of the April 4, 2007 issue of the newspaper.

We welcomed our first-time guests John and Richard, who advised that they enjoyed their evening with us! We were also pleased to see Wendy at her return visit. Wendy comes to us as a Speechcraft graduate and has chosen to join Tillicum! Many thanks for completing your application Wendy, and welcome to Tillicum. We look forward to helping you in your Toastmaster experience!
Lydia, as Grammarian, chose Approbation as the word of the day, meaning an expression of warm approval; praise. Example: “The Tillicum Toastmasters and guests celebrated the club’s 45th birthday with approbation.
It was good to see former members, who were not expecting to be called up for Table Topics, but Brian, our Table Topics Master, had other plans! Maurice, as Table Topics Evaluator, did a stellar humorous job in evaluating them!
Hal was not able to be with us but extended his best wishes to everyone including former guests Jean, Alex, Sandy, Candace, Colleen, John P and John S. Great to see you all again and please do call in on a Monday evening – you will be most welcome!
Just to give a plug to Alex, please consider visiting The Vagabond Players’ production of the comedy, “Moon Over Buffalo” during May 17 to June 9. This event will be addressed in the coming weeks.
Our two program speakers were Susan, who completed her CTM and Lutz, who completed his ATM Gold; congratulations to you both! Thanks too to Antonella for her evaluation of Susan, and Tom for his evaluation of Lutz; both excellent and humorous evaluations!
Françoise, our District 21 Governor, graced us with her presence and spoke in praise of the club and of Toastmasters who help themselves and one another. It was lovely to see her on this her first visit to Tillicum!!
Carol concluded the meeting with a very humorous Closing Thought, and brought a memorable night to a close!
Enjoy the Easter holidays and see you on April 16, when the Division J contest is held at Tillicum!
Best wishes,
