Another full house tonight! We welcomed our first-time guests Louise and Lak and returning guest Tamara. Thank you so much for attending and glad you enjoyed our meeting and look forward to subsequent meetings.
Tamara, who has visited Tillicum several times, completed her application form and presented payment tonight and became a member of Tillicum. Congratulations Tamara – we will work with you to help you in your Toastmaster experience, and welcome to Tillicum!
Sue as our Chair this evening led a productive and streamlined busy agenda, the theme of which was Favourite Books. Very well done Sue to bring together such a full event!
Anita as Grammarian chose Epicure as the word of the day, meaning: One with sensitive and discriminating tastes especially in food and wine. Example: There is a famous magazine, “Epicurus” that has wonderful recipes. Epicure and its derivatives were well utilized during the evening and found their place in round table introductions, table topics and speeches!
During the business meeting, Young was inducted into Tillicum Toastmasters. Congratulations Young and we look forward to hearing from you during the coming weeks.
Sue as President and Chair presented awards to Tom as Toastmaster of the Year and to Lutz a certificate recognizing his ten years with Tillicum Toastmasters; congratulations to you both!
Rosemary, an avid reader, and as Table Topics Master, excelled in presenting four scenarios regarding books, and the Best Table Topics Award rightly went to Albert for his description of the book he would take with him if a castaway on a desert island – Albert chose an empty book and one in which he could write his own story! Very well done Albert!
There were four speakers this evening: Brad, Vic, Michelle, and Maureen and congratulations to Brad for winning the Best Speaker Award and to Tom on the Best Evaluator Award for his evaluation of Maureen’s speech. Congratulations to all winners!
On a lighter note, please consider joining us on Friday, August 17, as we meet at the River Boat Casino to share in the fun of seeing Elvis, aka Steve Elliott, during the 30 year anniversary of the death of Elvis. As well, Patsy Cline, who too puts on an excellent performance, will be joining Elvis this night and what a wonderful show at $20 for three hours! Please contact Maureen to confirm your attendance.
Please don’t forget to view Speakers in Waiting and advise Maureen if you wish to deliver a speech or speeches in the coming weeks.
Enjoy the BC Day holiday, and look forward to seeing you at Tillicum on August 13, when Ken is Chair, and the theme is appropriately: Things to do in BC. Do assist him as he calls on you to fulfill roles.
Best wishes,
