The Lovely Lydia was our chair for the evening the theme being “Games Night” – excellent job as always including bridging and keeping to theme!
Our Grammarian, Michelle P., gave us cavort as the word of the day: to prance or caper about, behave in a high-spirited, festive manner. Example: “The children cavorted in the water, splashing and ducking each other!” Easily used throughout the evening, cavort fitted in with our high-spirited theme! Thanks Michelle!
Margot, as Table Topics Master, came well-prepared with four scenarios related to games and Maureen won the Best Table Topics Speaker award, as a somewhat fashion-conscious security guard at a casino!!
John admirably took on the role of Toastmaster this evening, amid much hilarity, and introduced three excellent speakers: Mariam #3, Brad #9 and Lourdes, who completed her 10th project this evening. Congratulations Lourdes, you have achieved your Competent Communicator, having been at Tillicum for just over a year! Travel and other commitments have taken up much of your time but your visits to the club have focused on your projects and you really have achieved your goals! Well done and best wishes with your future plans!
Mariam won the Best Speaker Award and Lutz and Maurice tied for the Best Evaluator Award for their evaluation of Mariam’s and Lourdes’ speeches. Congratulations to all winners!
Karen, who has been absent from the club for some time, made a welcome visit in her role as General Evaluator - for which we thank you! Karen also achieved her Competent Toastmaster award delivering a manual speech (#10) that was evaluated by Julie at another location, and we also congratulate Karen on becoming a Competent Toastmaster!
Tillicum, you are now a PRESIDENT'S DISTINGUISHED CLUB! With Bogdan's membership (goal #9) and two CCs (#10) we have achieved the ultimate this year, and still with three more months to go!! Well done Tillicum!
Just a reminder that there are only three events at Tillicum: March 10, 17 and 31, bringing us to the end of March and last time for renewals. Please bring your cheque or cash payment of $60 for renewals April to October, and Antonella, our Treasurer, will be pleased to provide a receipt!
April is just around the corner, and again a reminder to listen to Peter Legge when he visits the Justice Institute of BC on Tuesday, April 22nd as guest speaker at the Canadian Club’s dinner. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy excellent cuisine and listen to a Golden Gavel speaker!!! All this for only $23 per person, so please advise Maureen if you wish to attend.
Rod will chair the March 10 meeting, so please help him when he calls on you to fulfill roles.
Best wishes,
