Meeting of Monday, June 2, 2008

We welcomed our guests Marsene and Don and thank them for visiting us this evening to enjoy Brad as our Chair and the theme: The best way to spend a day! This was Brad’s first-time role as Chair and he did a wonderful job of bringing the meeting together, keeping it on time, excellent bridging, and his unique sense of humour! Nice job Brad!

Julie as Grammarian chose Loaf v. meaning to spend time in idleness, and the example of: “My favourite way to spend the day is to loaf around the house eating lemon loaf!” An easy word to play with, and we had lots of variations on a theme with this word of the day!

Theresa enjoyed her role as Table Topics Master, and with the help of a genie, posed five situations pertaining to wealth and occupations. John easily won the vote for Best Table Topics Speaker! Congratulations!

We had two program speakers: Michelle P. delivering CC #6 and Ken delivering his third speech from an advanced manual. Congratulations to Michelle on winning the Best Speaker Award and to Mariam on receiving the Best Evaluator Award for her evaluation of Michelle’s speech.

We are winding down this year, which has seen a plethora of awards achieved by Tillicum members. We want to celebrate so will have an evening of Celebration and Pizza on Monday, June 23 – the last meeting date of this year, so please remember to attend on this eventful evening!!

A reminder too that next month on Monday, July 14, we will have our picnic in the park, so please put on your culinary thinking caps and come up with some delicious pot luck offerings!

Look forward to seeing you next Monday, June 9, when Lutz will chair the meeting with the light-hearted theme of “Hairstyles of Old” – sounds fun!!

Best wishes,
