Thanks Barb for chairing our meeting tonight, the theme being A Tourist in My Own City. You came dressed for the part, complete with camera - great idea!
Rosemary was the Grammarian and the Word of the Day was Serendipity meaning: the faculty of seeking happy and unsuspected discoveries by accident. Both adjectives and adverbs were widely used during a happy and creative evening!
During the Business Meeting chaired by Alex, we had the induction of Andrew - so now you are well and truly our latest member Andrew - congratulations and welcome!
Andrew's talents were immediately put to the test by Maurice G. as the Table Topics Master, and he walked away with the Best Table Topics award for the evening!!! Well done Andrew - especially as you were just getting used to the idea of being a Toastmaster - and you rose to the occasion with your wonderful description of how to capture tourists in Stanley Park - beware big tourists with bright coloured clothing!!!
Lydia was our Toastmaster for the evening and introduced the Battle of the Marys!
Mary W, who described most effectively her fitness routine and Mary K who spoke so eloquently on death and dying provided our speeches for the evening. Mary W won the award for Best Speaker and Rosemary the Best Evaluator for her evaluation of Mary K's speech.
Thanks Anna for your full general evaluation of the evening – you brought a sense of humour to the conclusion of the evening and we thank you for your insights!
