Meeting of Monday, October 18, 2004

We had a wonderful turnout of members and guests this evening. Both Jarrod and Sue returned for their second visit, and for the first time we welcomed Kuldip, John and Milosc. Thank you all for joining us!

No Hockey – now what? – was the theme of the evening, which was ably and knowingly chaired by Maurice. Our Grammarian Tod, who stood in at the last minute, came up with the word Menace, meaning threat, danger, and was quite often brought into conversation during the meeting.

Brian as our Table Topics Master kept to the theme of the evening, and Maureen won the Best Table Topics Award with her rendition of the rookie VCR repairman who ruined Maurice’s dearly treasured hockey tapes, but came up with a last minute solution!! Mention should be made here of Anita and her Table Topics evaluation which, for a new member, was well thought out and presented.

Neil enthralled us all with his 3rd speech (Organize Your Speech) telling of his wonderful antics on his bicycle rides throughout the city – a lot of the time using public transport!! Well done Neil, and congratulations also to Lutz for his award winning evaluation.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE: Congratulations to Hal on winning the Area 80 Table Topics Contest; he will be among the contestants at the Division J contest on Thursday, October 28th in the Auditorium of the New Westminster Public Library. Do come along to this event to support Hal and enjoy a fun evening – it’s an important contest and the winners go on to the District 21 contest in Vancouver next month. So, please mark your calendars!! …

Don’t forget that next Monday, October 25, it is PIZZA NIGHT. Please be at Tillicum by 6.30 p.m. so we can eat, drink and be merry right up to 7.15 p.m., in time to get ready for the meeting!

Do refer to the Assigned Roles and Calendar of Events for future meetings.

Until the 25th, best wishes,
