Meeting of Monday, October 25, 2004

Such a wonderful evening, prefaced by PIZZA – which was oh so good!

We welcomed our returning guests Jarrod and Sue. Congratulations Jarrod and welcome to Tillicum Toastmasters, as you signed the application form and joined our fold!!

Thanks Alex for chairing the meeting, the theme being An Evening of Trivia. You tested our knowledge of trivia while we munched on pizza and interspersed your questions throughout the meeting; very well done!

Nice to see Andrew again, who was the Grammarian. He introduced us to the rather unusual w.o.d., Bailiwick, meaning a person’s specific area of interest, skill or authority, e.g., “When one’s bailiwick is alligator wrestling, one should expect to lose the occasional limb!”

Hal, as Table Topics Master, kept with the theme of the evening, and Andrew walked away with the top prize for his rendition of Wife Tossing in the Scottish Highland Games. Well animated and funny!

It was so good to see Anita deliver her first speech as a Tillicum member. Anita was in Toastmasters in Vernon and it was a pleasure to hear her 6th speech, within our club. It was well conveyed and captured the audience’s attention; she won the Best Speaker Award!! Maureen won the Best Evaluator award for her evaluation of Maurice’s speech.

A wonderful evening and thanks again to all who contributed to the pizza night, which was another big hit!!!

Please don’t forget the Division J contest on the 28th – come along and support Hal, as he represents Area 80 in the Table Topics contest.

There are five meeting nights in November, so do check the Calendar of Events and Assigned Roles.

Best wishes and see you on November 1st!
