TILLICUM TOASTMASTERS CONTINUES TO BE A PRESIDENT'S DISTINGUISHED CLUB!

Meeting of Monday, November 1, 2004

It was a dark and stormy night! … but that didn’t stop a gallant turnout of members on the night after Halloween! Sue, Kuldip and Troy were our returning guests of the evening, and Congratulations and Welcome to Sue and Kuldip, who became members of Tillicum!

Judy chaired the meeting with the theme Career Changes, and this theme was sustained during the evening.

Neil as Grammarian, still thinking of the night before fireworks, gave us the wod: Explode – as a verb: To burst forth with sudden violence from internal energy, and as a noun: Explosion.

Candace was the Table Topics Master and had a wonderful array of career choices and challenges. Maurice won the Best Table Topics Speaker award with his Trump-like version of “You’re Fired” (hopefully, we won’t have to face Trump-like people should we have job interviews!!)

Lutz willingly took on the role of Toastmaster and, because very spookily there were no planned speeches, Lutz and Judy decided on impromptu speeches for the second half of the evening, with career change being the subject. Maureen tap danced off with the Best Speaker Award, and the evening rounded off very smoothly with Rosemary’s general evaluation and Anita’s closing thought.

Three new members in the past week has increased our new membership to seven, since July 1st, and is reflected on the pdc site, where Tillicum currently has five out of the nine required goals for President’s Distinguished Club. Way to go Tillicum!!! Please check out the site to see our leadership stance within Area 80 and Division J.

Please check the Calendar of Events and Assigned Roles – we have four remaining meetings in November and one meeting before our Christmas Party in December – so try to complete your speech projects before the end of the year – what a great Christmas present to yourself!!

Best wishes,
