Meeting of Monday, November 8, 2004

Such a wonderful turnout again tonight – with an especial Hi to our chairperson, whose busy lifestyle has kept her away from the club for a little while. Glad to be with us, Lydia as Chairperson kept to the theme of the evening, Thoughts on Driving in the City. This proved to be a theme for which everyone had comments, and it turned into a very entertaining evening!

Lydia introduced our guests: Deb, Kevin, Rica, and Jason. Good to have you with us as first- time guests and we trust you enjoyed yourselves.

During the Business Meeting, both Sue and Jarrod were inducted into Tillicum Toastmasters. Congratulations to you both, and welcome!

A rather shamefully over-used word of the day was Critical (from Grace, our Grammarian), during round table introductions as well as the course of the evening!!

Neil as Table Topics Master kept right to the theme and offered a variety of situations, which were well handled by all participants. Maureen drove off with the Best Table Topics Speaker Award – and another parody/dance routine! (Don’t overdo it!)

On to the two speakers of the evening: Mary K and Andrew, both with great and varying content to their speeches. Mary won the Best Speaker Award and evaluators John S and Maurice tied for the Best Evaluator Award.

George in his General Evaluation referred to the Business Meeting. He felt that the roles for this meeting should be on the web site – so hey presto – it’s done! Please check out the Mission and Meetings link to discover the responsibilities for both the Chair and Business Meeting Chair.

A reminder that the Fall Conference is being held in Vancouver, Friday to Sunday, November 12-14,2004. Looks like a great time, and if you cannot attend all of the activities, please do come down to the big city for some of the events.

See you on November 15th!
