We had a wonderful turnout of members and welcomed Tricia, who made her first-time visit and John our returning guest. Thank you for taking time to come to Tillicum!
Colleen was our Chair for the evening and provided a wonderful commentary and bridging expertise during the evening’s theme: Telemarketers. This theme was maintained throughout the evening and provided much input from the members and guests.
Stepping up to the role of Grammarian, Alex provided us with the word of the day: Irascible: irritable, easily angered, and gave the example: Colleen becomes irascible when interrupted by telemarketers during "Survivor"! The word was used with some regularity, and may well come up again in future meetings!
During the Business Meeting, Kuldip was inducted into Tillicum Toastmasters. Welcome to the club Kuldip and we wish you much success in your Toastmaster experience.
On to Table Topics, enthusiastically chaired by Hal, who presented to the unsuspecting respondents, five scenarios on franchising. Alex won Best Table Topics for his explanation of starting a business to provide swimming lessons to pet frogs, with an hilarious demonstration of how frogs could do the butterfly stroke!
On to the speakers for the evening and we were pleased to see Jarrod deliver his Ice Breaker, which included an exhausting journey to Korea and Russia – complete with calendar and map!!! Mary followed with the last project towards her Competent Toastmaster status and spoke passionately about Toastmasters and how she has benefited from this organization. Both Mary and Jarrod were so good that they tied for the Best Speaker Award! Well done both of you, and congratulations to you Mary on attaining your CTM in only six months – whew!!! Rosemary as VP Education presented Mary with the club’s certificate recognition on her CTM.
Well done Margot for your wonderful evaluation of Mary’s speech and on receiving the Best Evaluator Award.
Rosemary will chair the November 29 meeting and has chosen the topic The Stress Factor – to see this and all activities at the club, please click on the Calendar of Events and Assigned Roles.
Look forward to seeing you on November 29!
Best wishes,
