Meeting of February 14, 2005

Lutz and I visited Speechcraft before arriving at the Club, so I again thank Alex for providing a record of this evening’s activities:

Understandably, tonight's Valentine's Day meeting was more sparsely attended than most meetings, but this gave the attendees more opportunity to speak. Several members assumed multiple roles.

Our Chair, Anita, introduced our three guests (Simon, Bob and Dave) and provided chocolates to everyone as an unexpected reward for attending. Our word of the day, Fidelity, meaning faithfulness, was used by several members in describing current or past relationships. Our astute Grammarian, Mary K, was careful not to credit speakers for use of the word if it was completely out of context.

Table Topics Master, Antonella, cleverly interwove the five topics while describing the historical significance of St. Valentine's Day. Our five contestants (Andrew, Sue, Jarrod, Maurice, and Mihaela) rose to the challenge, with Maurice walking away with Best Table Topics speech about his tortuous separation from his true love while imprisoned in the Tower of London. Who would have guessed it would turn out to be his much-maligned mother-in law? Alex's evaluation won Best Evaluator.

Alex, filling in as Toastmaster, introduced Jarrod, who gave his 2nd speech, earning him Best Speaker, with Maurice providing a very helpful evaluation.
Rosemary provided a detailed general evaluation to end the meeting.
Special thanks go to Susannah (a Young Associate Member---or YAM) for stepping in and doing a great job as Timer and providing our Closing Thought.

Please check the Assigned Roles and Calendar of Events to see what’s up and coming at Tillicum!

Thanks Alex, and see you on the 21st
Best wishes,
