Meeting of February 21, 2005

We welcomed our guests Glenys and Kent and returning guest Simon to this evening’s well attended meeting! Hope our guests enjoyed this animated and fun meeting, the theme of which was Reality TV.

Neil, very ably chaired our meeting for the second time and maintained the theme throughout, even to the Closing Thought – well done Neil; you are nurturing this role and becoming a well-respected chairperson!

Another relatively new member, Susan, most admirably acted as Grammarian and chose the word of the day: Contentious, meaning argumentative and quarrelsome, e.g., Fans of reality TV are often attracted to the contentious nature of the competitors.

Keeping to the theme of the evening Hal, our Table Topics Master, invented five scenarios of his own reality TV programs – all cleverly thought out and responded to by five brave contestants!! It was Mary K who stole the show describing to us the Bore Factor (from watching paint dry to reading War and Peace – quite the bedtime story Mary!) Well done on receiving the Best Table Topics Speaker award!

Andrew won the Best Speaker Award for his well-researched delivery on Quality Control, and it was his evaluator Rosemary, who won the Best Evaluator Award – congrats to you both!

A fun, well-paced evening was enjoyed by all and many thanks to each participant!

PLEASE TAKE NOTE!

Membership renewals are due before March 31, 2005, so you will soon be hearing from our Treasurer, Judy, on this matter. The last meeting date before April is Monday, March 21st.

On Monday, March 21st we will hold the International Speech and Evaluation Contests, so do mark your calendar for this event. It is educational and entertaining, and Rosemary and Neil will be looking for your cooperation and participation. For those not participating, do come along, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Do check the Calendar of Events and Assigned Roles to see what’s in store for you at Tillicum!

Look forward to seeing you on the 28th!
Best wishes,
