Another great turnout saw us welcome our first-time guests Indrani and Tom, and Karim from one of our Surrey clubs also enjoyed the activities of the evening.
Welcome to our latest member, Simon, and congratulations to Troy who was inducted! We hope you both enjoy your membership at Tillicum Toastmasters!
Tools and Gadgets was the theme of the evening, ably chaired by Brian, who ran a smooth and energetic meeting with his own brand of Welsh humour!
Rob, in his role as Grammarian, eloquently introduced us to the word of the day: Altruism (n): selflessness – an attitude or way of behaving marked by unselfish concern for the welfare of others. Rob was very diligent in recording our faux pas, and was himself altruistic in his report!
Good to see Colleen again in her role as Table Topics Master, in which she created five situations for members to speak impromptu on tools and gadgets. Andrew, complete with spray-on nose (from the inventor of spray-on hair), blew away the competition and won the Best Table Topics Speaker Award. Congratulations too to Alex for his wonderful evaluation of all five speakers.
Mary K, in the first of two Competent Leader deliveries, spoke on the club agenda and context of club meetings, with a very powerful PowerPoint presentation. Well done Mary; we look forward to your next delivery when you will speak on the roles and responsibilities of the meeting.
Maurice as General Evaluator gave us his effective and well-thought out evaluation of the meeting, which was so positive and inspiring. Tools and Gadgets was a fun topic and enjoyed by all present.
Next Monday, March 7th, we hope to have the Speechcraft students visit Tillicum, so do come along and show them your support as they conclude their eight-week session, chaired by Lydia.
As an ongoing reminder:
PLEASE TAKE NOTE!
Membership renewals are due by March 31, 2005, so you will soon be hearing from our Treasurer, Judy, on this matter. The last meeting date before April is Monday, March 21st.
On Monday, March 21st we will hold the International Speech and Evaluation Contests, so do mark your calendar for this event. It is educational and entertaining and Rosemary and Neil will be looking for your cooperation and contributions. For those not participating, do come along, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
Do check the Calendar of Events and Assigned Roles to see what’s in store for you at Tillicum!
Look forward to seeing you on the 7th!
Best wishes,
