CONGRATULATIONS TILLICUM!!!
YOU ARE A PRESIDENT’S DISTINGUISHED CLUB
YOU ARE A PRESIDENT’S DISTINGUISHED CLUB
We had an exciting evening in which Tillicum achieved its 9th goal, making it a President’s Distinguished Club – well done to all those members and new members who helped us achieve our goals, and we are only half way through the Toastmasters’ year.
Welcome to our many guests, especially Matt – who visited us for the first time. Our returning guests included Mario, Rob, Tracey, Troy, and our returning member Matthew. Good to see you again!
Congratulations to Troy who joined Tillicum as a new member and to Matthew who renewed his membership. So glad to have you both on board and we trust you will enjoy your Toastmaster experience.
Congratulations too to Carol, who was inducted into Tillicum’s membership.
Super Bowl, just how super is it? – was the theme of the evening, chaired so amiably by Hal, who kept the theme running throughout the evening.
Rosemary, as our Grammarian, offered us the word of the day: Zeal (n): earnestness or fervour; zealous (adj.): full of zeal, enthusiastic. So appropriate Rosemary for an evening dedicated to champions!!
Our newer members again showed their colours by taking on some of the major roles. Jarrod, as Table Topics Master, began and continued his questions using words of one syllable to lead into his question – so well done, original and humorous – great job Jarrod. While our newer members were the objects of Jarrod’s situations, it was Maurice (a long-time member) who walked off with the Best Table Topics Speaker Award – when he brought all of the topics together for a wonderful concluding speech!! So well done!
Andrew, in his fifth project, won the Best Speaker Award – and rightly so for an hilarious and educational account of The History of Plonk! How appropriate for someone working in the wine industry!! Congratulations are in order for Andrew as he achieved his Completion of Fifth Speech Certificate – only five more to go to your CTM Andrew – and you are such an accomplished speaker at this stage in your projects.
Maureen, in her last speech in the Public Relations Manual, completed her quartet of talks on New Westminster and achieved her ATM Silver. Congratulations; thus bringing the club to President’s Distinguished.
Trish, who gave a wonderful evaluation of Andrew’s speech won the Best Evaluator Award. Look forward to hearing more from you Trish – so accomplished.
A great evening with lots happening and a precursor to Toastmasters’ Week – February 6th to 12th – so enjoy the week – lots to see and do around the clubs including an Open House with Community Impact Speakers, the new Advanced Club in Division J on Monday, February 7th to be held in MetroTown, and the Table Topics Marathon on Thursday, February 10th at Metro Speakers, in Area 81 – again Division J.
Keep checking the Calendar of Events and Assigned Roles to see what’s happening at Tillicum Toastmasters!
See you soon!
Best wishes,
