Thank you to the guests from Best Future Speakers, Nokia Cheers, Power Speakers, and Telespeakers who joined us for this fun evening, which brought together contestants from Area 80.
In the absence of the Area 80 Governor, the International Speech Contest and Evaluation Contest were well-chaired by Maurice, who moved ever so smoothly through the two contests – many thanks for your efforts!
The three contestants in the International Speech Contest were members of Tillicum, Power Speakers and Telespeakers. All delivered humorous speeches, and it was Karonne of Telespeakers who took first prize, followed by Andrew of Tillicum with second place.
Vincent from Speakeasy (A-82) was the test speaker, and he delivered a wonderful, humorous and moral-of-the-story speech, which was evaluated by Matt of Power Speakers, Robert of Telespeakers and Antonella of Tillicum; all very good evaluations, with Robert taking the first prize, followed by Matt.
Congratulations to all the contestants for rising to the area level. Especial congratulations to Karonne and Robert, as you both move on to the Division Level, on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the Auditorium, New Westminster Public Library.
Matt of Power Speakers was elected Area 80 Governor for 2005-2006 – congratulations go to you too Matt, as you take over the reins from Bruce.
Thanks again to all concerned: judges, timers, counters, contestants, and audience, for such a great evening!
Next week, April 18, we return to the usual meeting format. The theme of the evening is Technology, where’s it taking us?? Maureen will be the meeting chair, and you will be hearing from her during this week to confirm roles and ask for your assistance in filling just the few remaining roles.
