Our returning guest Darryl joined us before his departure to Kamloops to continue his teaching position. Good to have you with us for the past few weeks!
Colourful Characters was the theme of the evening, Chaired by George. Many characters from all walks of life, from the famous to the infamous, came to light and George kept the theme going throughout the evening.
Susannah, Rosemary’s daughter and YAM (“Young Associate Member”), again gallantly stepped into the role of Grammarian and came up with the word of the day: Bodacious. While most had heard this word, no one seemed to know its meaning! By the powers of the Internet, Bodacious can be described thus: Bold: outrageously arrogant or inhibited; Impressive: remarkable or excellent. For a group that did not know the meaning of the word, it was used with seemingly appropriate reckless abandonment during the evening!!!
Rosemary also mentioned that she had prepared a brief description of the Business Meeting: Making Motions, and these are contained in the Mission, Meetings and Roles link. Thanks for this contribution Rosemary.
Lutz, as Table Topics Master, kept to the bodacious and colourful theme of the evening, and what an assortment of situations he posed to the five unsuspecting volunteers! It was Antonella, with her wonderful description of how she would present herself as an Apprentice to The Donald, who won our hearts and votes, and she took the Best Table Topics Speaker Award for the evening. All the speakers were well and truly evaluated by Mary, who won the Best Evaluator Award. Congratulations to you both!!
Andrew, with his 7th speech from the Communication and Leadership Manual, gave us a very good description of the Mormon Church, its background and structure, and won the Best Speaker Award. Well done Andrew; just three more projects before you attain your CTM!!
Do try and attend the Division J contest on April 27 from 6.15 to 8.45 at the Auditorium, New Westminster Public Library; should be a fun night with the winners moving on to the District Conference next month in Victoria.
As usual, keep checking the Assigned Roles and Calendar of Events to see what’s ahead.
See you on May 2nd!
Best wishes,
