Another fine turnout of members on this bright, sunny day and we were pleased to welcome our first-time guest Wanda and returning YAMs, Susannah and Naveen.
Susan, in her first-time attempt as Chair, did a magnificent job in running the meeting on time and on theme, which was Growing Older. Well done Susan – great bridging and humour!
Margot, as Grammarian gave us the word of the day: Octogenarian (n.): a person who is in his/her eighties. Much discussion on the pros and cons of growing older ensued, which was laced with positive outlooks including: learning wisdom and gaining a wealth of experience.
Carol was the Table Topics Master, and created five scenarios, all of which were well handled. It was Neil who won the Best Table Topics Award with his suggestions on what to avoid to attain longevity. Well done Neil!!
On to the speakers, and we extend congratulations to Andrew, who achieved his CTM with his tenth project tonight. Well done Andrew, and you take your CTM with you to Vanderhoof, where we wish you much success in your continuing Toastmaster experience in the north of BC. We will miss you, your wonderful sense of humour and charming speeches, and extend to you and your wife our very best wishes.
Rosemary, in working towards her ATM Silver, enchanted us with her storytelling expertise (White Socks and Parking Lots) and took home the Best Speaker Award. Maurice won the Best Evaluator Award for his evaluation of Rosemary’s speech – well done and congratulations to all winners.
Just a reminder to the incoming executive that Division J training takes place on Tuesday, June 21st at the Library in New Westminster; we hope that four officers will attend, and would like all seven to attend!!
And the following day, Wednesday, June 22nd, is the Night Out at The Old Bavaria Haus Restaurant, not too far from the Library, on 6th Street. If you have not confirmed your attendance and wish to attend, please contact Maureen to add your name to the list!!!
New additions to the web site include Roles in a Club Meeting; The C and L Manual; and The Advanced Manuals. Please refer to these sites often, and don’t forget to check out the Assigned Roles and Calendar of Events to see what’s ahead at Tillicum.
Look forward to seeing you on Monday, June 13th!
Best wishes,
