We have been so fortunate to have many guests attend each meeting and this evening was no exception! We welcomed our guests Diane, Ken, Susan (visiting from Toronto where she is a member of two Toastmaster clubs), Maggie and Keith, and Susannah, one of our YAMs. Thank you all for visiting and glad to hear you enjoyed the meeting. Diane, it was so nice of you to take time out from looking after a 7-year-old and a 5-year-old, and we wish you good health and congratulations on the impending birth of your baby girl in early September! Thanks again to all of you for being with us, and we hope you can visit again soon!
Lydia was our charming Chair for the evening, the theme of which was Wardrobe Malfunctions. The round-table introduction enabled members and guests to relate to personal situations which delighted our audience as people reflected on embarrassment and humour!!
Sue as our Grammarian gave us yet another appropriate word of the day: Calamity (n.), Calamitous (adj.): disaster, dire distress, e.g., “Hurricane ‘Katrina’ is a great calamity for the people of New Orleans”. Used with much frequency, the w.o.d. found its place in most conversations.
Rosemary, as Table Topics Master, came up with inventive wardrobe malfunctioning scenarios to be enacted by five members! The Best Table Topics Award went to Anita, who explained how she unknowingly lost and then found her wrap-around skirt, which she was wearing at the start of her run across the fields!
The summer hiatus is drawing to a close and we return on Monday, September 12th to our normal 2-hour meeting agenda. Enjoy the Labour Day weekend and do check the Calendar of Events and Assigned Roles to see what’s ahead during September!
Best wishes,
