At our first meeting following the BC Day holiday, we welcomed our guest Brian and returning guests Dave and Tom (pictured left).
Naveen our YAM, accompanied his father Kumar; thank you for visiting us! Please welcome Dave and Tom who signed their membership application forms!!! We will enjoy you being members of Tillicum and wish you much success in your Toastmaster experience.
Maureen’s neighbour Mike accepted her invitation to the club to take photographs during the evening, and we are so glad he visited. Thanks so much Mike; your handiwork will finds its place on the web site! Glad to hear you enjoyed your first visit to a Toastmaster club; as well, we are pleased that you can accompany us to the picnic next Monday to catch the fun and activities!

Maurice (right) proved yet again to be the consummate Chairperson for the evening, the theme of which was “What I Like About BC”. On such a beautiful summer evening there was much to say about our province, and everyone spoke with pride and admiration of the glorious abundance of mountains, waterways and scenery that surround us. The theme was well kept throughout the evening and Maurice did an excellent job of bridging, making announcements and keeping everything on time!! Well done!
Neil as our Grammarian provided a most appropriate word of the day: Grandeur (n.): magnificence, nobility or dignity. Example: "Come view the grandeur of BC’s mountains." This w.o.d. was so right for this occasion and used profusely throughout the evening.

Trish, in working towards her ATMB, delighted us with her humorous speech on a visit to Ireland a month ago. Trish presented snapshots of her visit that ranged from the solemn moments of the memorial to those who lost their lives in the Air India bombing, to her touring beautiful and picturesque towns, especially the little town of Dingle. Nicely done Trish!
Alex won the Best Evaluator Award for his evaluation of Trish’s speech.
Rosemary won the Best Speaker Award for her delivery of Bringing History to Life from the Storytelling Manual, where she relayed with much animation the story of Daedalus and Icarus from Greek Mythology.

Left to right they are: Margot, VP Membership, Antonella, Sergeant-at-Arms, Neil, VP Education Assistant, Rosemary, President (on bended knee!), Jarrod, Secretary, Susan, Treasurer, and Maureen, VP Public Relations.
