What a turnout!! Thanks to you all for attending such a fun evening. Especial thanks to our guests Christy and Gina, and returning guests Leona and Charlotte. Glad to hear you enjoyed this evening!
Our theme, “What’s with the weather anyway?!” chaired by Maureen, included talk on hurricanes and tornadoes, while we basked in the mildness of a fall evening. With such a full agenda including two Advanced Manual speeches of almost 30 minutes, it was a meeting that was carefully monitored and timed!!
Margot, as our Grammarian, gave us not just one but two words of the day, for comparison purposes! Inclement (adj.) meaning physically severe or harsh, stormy, rigorously cold, etc., “In eastern Canada winter is an inclement season” and Balmy (adj.) gently, soothing, mild, “In Hawaii the weather is balmy”. Two great words that were extremely well used during the meeting!
Very ably keeping to the theme of the evening, Neil as Table Topics Master, presented five situations all well handled by the speakers, and the Best Table Topics Award went to Mary - glad to see you looking so well and back on your feet!
Joe took the role of Toastmaster and in this first valiant attempt introduced the speakers and evaluators. The Best Speaker Award went to George and the Best Evaluator Award to Lydia. Congratulations to all winners!
Don’t forget that Scary Stories is the theme of the October 31st Halloween meeting, with George as Chair.
November is shaping up to be a busy month:
Wednesday 2nd – Division J contest
Thursday 3rd – Executive Meeting
Friday 11th to Sunday 13th – District Conference, Richmond, BC
Thursday 17th – Fun(d) raiser at the Library
Sunday 20th – Harry Potter returns to the silver screen.
Look forward to seeing you back at Tillicum!
Best wishes,
