An excellent turnout again this evening and we welcomed our first-time guest Naomi, and returning guests Leona and Charlotte. Leona joined Tillicum Toastmasters and we welcome her to our membership and wish her much success in her Toastmaster experience.
Maurice was our innovative Chair and led the meeting with the theme “The Funniest Person I Ever Met”. Quite a lot of input on this one and amazingly the funniest people in our lives seemed to be family members!
Joe as Grammarian gave us the word of the day: Facetious (v) – joking or trying to be jocular at an inappropriate time. Thanks Joe for choosing a word that was used with much jocularity and facetiousness throughout the evening!!
Our Table Topics Master Antonella was astounding in her approach to this role, as she passed to all members slips of paper five of which included the numbers 1 to 5 – the recipients were the “not so lucky” ones to be called for Table Topics. There was hardly any facetiousness to be found in the speakers, the Best Table Topics Award going to Tom for his suggestions on what he does to lighten up his day. Kudos also go to David A. who, as a newly-inducted member, took on the role of Table Topics Evaluator and won the Best Evaluator Award. Well done David!
Tom also won the Best Speaker Award for his second speech on balance in one’s life. Well done Tom on such a great achievement, so early in your Toastmaster days! Congratulations to all winners!
Just a reminder to advise Maureen if you wish to see Harry Potter on Sunday, November 20th, as we need at least 18-20 people for the group rate.
Our Christmas Party is scheduled for Monday, December 12th, and we are asking members to bring non-perishable items for the food bank. So check your pantry and kitchen cupboards to see what you can donate!
