Meeting of Monday, February 13, 2006

“Love is in the Air!” sings John Paul Young, and that was true of our theme this evening: "The Love of My Life”. A great meeting in which we welcomed our first-time guest Patti (from Ontario) and returning guests Carla, Jim and John. Thanks for visiting and glad you enjoyed the meeting.

As meeting Chair, Brian did an excellent job leading the meeting and throughout, with his usual Welsh brand of humour!

Rosemary as Grammarian chose the word of the day: Winsome (adj.) winning, attractive; also winsomely (adv.) and winsomeness (n.) Example: “She was a popular girl and people found her winsome manner so charming.” Used correctly and often during the evening, winsome was also used shamelessly several times in the cliché “you win some, you lose some!” however, not accepted as an accurate use of the word, so no points for that one! No points either for “Winsome Churchill” but a funny comment Brian – still on the ball!!

Chris F. as Table Topics Master called on four members to think on their feet to answer situations all related to Valentine’s Day. A charming variety, and it was Mary and Tom who tied for Best Table Topics Speaker Award – Mary reminiscing on the Who, What, Why, Where, and When of her first Valentine, and Tom winsomely thinking of his first crush! Both enjoyable and charming deliveries!

Rosemary also doubled as Toastmaster and introduced our two speakers both completing their final speech in the Communication and Leadership Manual.

So, move over Will & Grace! We have TOM and GRACE!!!

Congratulations to both Tom and Grace on achieving their CTM and to Tom for winning the Best Speaker Award for his Speak to Inspire project on “Martin Luther King – the Man”. Well done Tom!! Maureen won the Best Evaluator Award for evaluating Tom’s speech. Congratulations to all winners.

With two CTMs, we now have our 7th goal towards President’s Distinguished Club status. Way to go Tillicum!!

Another great meeting ahead on the 20th, when Troy is our Chair, so please assist him in filling roles for the meeting. As well, do check the Assigned Roles and Calendar of Events to see what’s happening at Tillicum!

See you on the 20th!
Best wishes,
