We welcomed our first-time guests Howard and Noriko and returning guests Tiffany and Jennifer. Thanks so much for visiting and glad to hear you enjoyed the evening.
Rosemary again performed beautifully as Chair, the theme for the meeting being: Mental Health Month: Reducing Stress; Maintaining Balance. This was a thought-provoking theme, which was adhered to throughout the meeting and also allowed for some levity, especially during Table Topics.
Jarrod as Grammarian gave the word of the day: Autonomy/Autonomic: the quality or state of being independent, free and self-directing. Example: “The body’s autonomous response to stress is to increase the heart rate, dilate the pupils and increase the respiration rate.” Nice choice of word Jarrod, and used appropriately throughout the meeting.
Susan as Table Topics Master presented five scenarios which were met very ably, especially Mary with her winning response to a crisis line situation, for which she took home the Best Table Topics Award.
Instead of a Business Meeting, Grace presented her Competent Leader speech towards the CL designation, and both Ken and Slavica respectively presented their fifth and eighth CTM speeches. Ken left us with a cliffhanger, which will be divulged in his sixth speech, and Slavica won the Best Speaker Award with her inspirational speech, in which she explained her upbringing in the former Yugoslavia, courage of family (and herself) and eventual emigration to Canada. Well done Slavica and Mary too, who won Best Evaluator Award for her evaluation of Slavica’s speech. Congratulations to all winners.
Speaking of Mary, she mentioned that Speechcraft will again be held this year during October 5 to November 23, and more details of this will be presented nearer these dates.
Brian will be chair next week, so do help him as he calls on you to fill roles.
Off to Prince George for the Spring Conference this weekend (May 5-7), and look forward to seeing you next Monday, May 8. Please check Assigned Roles and Calendar of Events to see what’s happening at Tillicum!
Best wishes,
