A good turnout of members this evening and we also welcomed our first-time guests James, Lynn, Mariam, Jennifer, and Alexandra. Thanks for visiting Tillicum, for your positive comments and we look forward to seeing you at future meetings.
Candace was our very capable Chair for the evening. The theme “The Artist in Me” was well taken by members and guests alike and Candace kept to the theme throughout the evening, interspersed with good bridging techniques.
Troy D. as our Grammarian gave us the word of the day: Pointillistic (adj.) meaning composed of many discrete details or parts. Example: “As we examined the TV screen close up, we became aware of its pointillistic nature.” We come to Toastmasters to learn and each meeting is a new learning experience; with this word of the day we were challenged to include it correctly in our comments and some gallant members did just that!!
Leona, returning to the club following a brief absence, ably presented as Table Topics Master, and offered five scenarios based on the meeting theme. Maureen won the Best Table Topics Award for describing the artistry she has developed during her time as a Toastmaster. Rosemary then did an excellent evaluation of Table Topics to round off the first half of the meeting.
We had four project speakers this evening: Ken delivering his 6th project, Rosemary reading from the Interpretive Reading manual, and Tom and Mary enacting a talk show setting while presenting a project from the Communicating for Television manual. An especial thank you to our guest James, who took on the role of cameraman, with the video camera held high on his shoulder and looking quite the part!!

All speakers spoke so well and showed the diversity of Toastmasters and how they are developing their speaking skills. The Best Speaker Award was shared by Tom and Mary, and Margot won the Best Evaluator Award for her evaluation of Rosemary’s speech. A great evening of Topics and Speeches, and congratulations to all winners!
Incidentally, please let Maureen know if you wish to attend the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, on Sunday July 9. The signup sheet will be passed to members and guests at each meeting during the month of June.
Lutz will be our Chair on Monday, June 12, the theme being “Graduation: What I Wish I’d Known”, and thanks to those who signed up for roles during the June 5th meeting. Looks like a full house, and an excellent topic!
See you on the 12th!
Best wishes,
