A good get-together this evening and we welcomed our first-time guests Cindy and Adam and returning guest Tracey. Thank you for visiting and for your appreciative comments!
On this her third visit to the club, Tracey completed her membership application and payment, and joined Tillicum. So welcome Tracey – we wish you much success in your Toastmaster experience and will help you achieve your goals!
Ken was our very able Chair for this meeting, the theme being: My Favourite Winter Spot. There were lots of thoughts ranging from winter spots with both cold and warm climes, and interesting to hear the variance from speakers and guests.
Susan chose Intractable as the word of day, meaning: Not easily controlled; unmanageable. An example: “Without his weekly skiing trip he became quite intractable!” Some usage during the evening, but it may take time before this word finds its way into everyday vocabulary!
Maurice presented a wonderful Education Session on Vocal Variety, and this was followed by an induction of three new members: Anne, Rod and Vic were voted on and sworn into the club as bona fide members of Tillicum Toastmasters – congratulations to you all!
Anne is still a very new member but she excels in the roles she has undertaken! As Table Topics Master, Anne presented five scenarios relating to travel. Maurice won the Best Table Topics Award for his explanation to the customs officer of the white powder found in his luggage; no Maurice, icing sugar is not too convincing!!

Rod as our newly-inducted member delivered his first project, the Ice Breaker. What a wonderful job on this your first speech, a certain indicator of great things to come!! Tom won the Best Speaker Award for his delivery of his 2nd speech towards ATM-Silver from the Specialty Speeches manual. Carol won the Best Evaluator Award for her excellent evaluation of Tom's speech. Congratulations to all winners.
Margot is our Chair next week, the theme being “It Ain’t Over ‘til the Fat Lady Sings” so please help her when she calls on you to complete roles.
See you on February 5!
Best wishes,
