Another great turnout of members and guests, and we welcomed our returning guests Allyson and Gertrude. Brad, on his third visit to the club, completed his application form and payment, and is now a member of Tillicum! Congratulations Brad and welcome to the club! We wish you much success with your Toastmaster experience. As well, it was good to see Noriko again, and we hope to see our guests in the future!
Ken very ably chaired the meeting, the theme of which was Hindsight.
Lourdes took on her first-time role of Grammarian and chose Vicarious (adj.) as the word of the day. Meaning experienced at secondhand, not direct or immediate, example: “I read about mountain climbing and felt vicarious excitement!” Used quite often during the evening, vicarious and its derivatives proved to be a popular choice! Nice going Lourdes!
During the business meeting the roles of the incoming executive (commencing July 1) were discussed and elections will take place on Monday, May 7, 2007.
Lydia was a well-prepared Table Topics Master and Julie won the Best Table Topics Award.
Following the break, Rod took on his first-time role as Toastmaster and handled this very well. The Best Speaker Award went to Anne and Best Evaluator Award to Karen, for her evaluation of Anne’s speech! Congratulations to all winners!
Next week the executive will meet at the club at 6:45 p.m. to have a short meeting regarding the elections and the meeting itself will start at its usual time of 7:30 p.m. Unusual Occupations is the theme, so this sounds like fun!
Moon over Buffalo will begin this month, so please advise Maureen of the dates you wish to attend.
See you on Monday, May 7!
Best wishes, Maureen
