What a wonderful evening!! A strong member turnout and we welcomed our first-time guests Christine, Jessica, Victor, Jas, and Harold, and returning guest Wayne. Thanks so much for attending and glad to hear your positive comments, including Wayne indicating that he wishes to join Tillicum “next week” – so thanks so much Wayne and we look forward to welcoming you to the fold!
Julie (substituting for Maurice) was our equally able Chair, and the theme was Relationships. Good bridging Julie and keeping to both theme and time!
Mariam, as Grammarian, chose Shmooze or schmooze (Yiddish) as the word of the day. Meaning: based on listening or the idea of responding to what you hear and being considered in tune. It also means to gossip or chat in a friendly manner, with the example: “John and Tom are champion schmoozers!” Used with great regularity and humour during the evening, our word of the day proved quite popular!! Nicely done Mariam!
Both Tom and Lydia shared an Educational Session relating to Credentials, as each club has the right to be represented by Toastmasters holding ballots at the Business Meeting in the bi-annual District conferences. Nice going to both of you and to Thomas for ensuring all the technical aspects of the presentation were in order!
On to Table Topics where Grace mastered choosing five members to speak on an assortment of relationships in which John won the Best Table Topics Award for his loving relationship with plastic: the credit card variety!

PETER LEGGE: A group of 26 Toastmasters from Tillicum and other clubs in the Lower Mainland were guests at the Canadian Club dinner on April 22 at which Peter Legge was the keynote speaker. What a magnificent evening; in fact, a WOW!! evening. Such an engaging and accomplished speaker, it was a pleasure to listen and watch his hour-long presentation. Thanks again to those at Tillicum who attended.
Ken is the Chair of the April 28th meeting; theme: Furniture – so please help him in filling roles.
Best wishes and see you on the 28th!
