My Favourite Tree was the theme of this well-attended meeting, and thanks to Michelle P. on her first-time role as Chair. A full agenda was presented and we thank Michelle for her preparation of the meeting and finesse in such a great evening!
Michelle L., as Grammarian, offered Covet (v.) as the word of the day. Meaning to desire greatly, the example given was “He has coveted to be a professional speaker.” Used to some extent during the evening, Michelle also kept a good record of uhms and ahs!
Rod as Table Topics Master created five scenarios centering around trees, and Brad with his Ode to a Tree, humorously delivered his topic and involved audience participation, all of which resulted in his winning the Best Table Topics Award!
Lydia and Tom joined forces in delivering a presentation based on Credentials, which will be shown at the upcoming Spring Conference in Nanaimo. The presentation goes towards their work on the High Performance Leadership and was privately evaluated. Mariam then presented her 9th project Persuade with Power, and did an excellent job!! The club was easily persuaded to vote Mariam as the Best Speaker, and Antonella won the Best Evaluator Award for her evaluation of Mariam’s speech. Congratulations to all winners!
Next Monday, May 12, will be the election of the upcoming executive. Many of you have risen to the occasion and expressed your desire to take on an executive role!! Thanks so much for your input and if you also think you are of executive stuff, then please add your name to those already submitted for nomination.
Tom will chair the May 12th meeting which has the theme Motivational/Inspirational Speakers – sounds right up our street, so please help Tom when he calls on you to fill roles!
