Lots of members visited for this meeting, the theme being Out in Nature. We welcomed our first-time guests Lucy and Tanya, and returning guests Jennifer and Stephen. Thanks so much for attending and for your positive comments, and we welcome you as our guests at future meetings!

We also want to thank Jennifer who, on her second visit to the club, submitted her completed membership application form and payment and is now a member of Tillicum Toastmasters! Congratulations Jennifer; we look forward to helping you in your Toastmaster experience!

Maurice was our most amiable and capable Chair, and he held the meeting to theme and on time, with great bridging between roles. A very well-done job Maurice!

Theresa took on the role of Grammarian and chose serene (adj.) as the word of the day. Meaning tranquil, calm, peaceful, Theresa gave the example: “Sitting and observing the quietness of nature, she had a serene expression on her face.” A great word to use during roundtable introductions and throughout the meeting, serene founds its home in our vocabulary! Nice job Theresa!

Lutz held the Business Meeting during which Sue, our Immediate Past President, advised that she had received a congratulatory letter from Toastmasters International on Tillicum Toastmasters becoming a President’s Distinguished Club, and proudly held yet another ribbon to go on our banner!!

To conclude the Business Meeting, Marsene was formally inducted and is now a bona fide member of Tillicum Toastmasters – congratulations Marsene on election into the membership; we wish you much success in your journey with us!

Antonella
loves the role of Table Topics Master and serenely and capably picked five members to reflect on the meeting theme with varying on-the-spot situations! Christine and Maureen tied for Best Table Topics Speaker, with their thoughts on serenity and being lost at sea!!

Our two speakers this evening were Michelle, who completed the 8th of 10 projects in the CC manual and gave a wonderful PowerPoint presentation on Teamwork. Sue, advancing through the projects to her AC Bronze, delivered a two-person play, with great aplomb and realism!!! Sue won the Best Speaker Award and Lutz the Best Evaluator Award for his evaluation of Sue’s speech. Congratulations to all winners!

Although a little late, congratulations go to Michelle on being presented the 5th speech completion certificate, which is the half-way mark to 10 projects. Michelle now has only two more projects to deliver before she becomes a Competent Communicator. Nicely done Michelle!

Monday, August 4, is the BC Day Holiday so there will be no meeting. We look forward to getting together again on Monday, August 11, when Sue is Chair and the theme is Games. Sounds like fun, and until then,

Best wishes,
