The hall was jam-packed tonight, as we welcomed our members and returning guests Ariana and Ling. As well, the Speechcraft class for September-November has graduated and received their certificates presented by Tom, who well-serves Speechcraft and takes delight in introducing people to this crash-course in public speaking! Of the 12 who signed up for the course, 11 stayed with it, which is a testament to Tom’s tutelage, and he was pleased to present certificates to Erica, Gail, Harold, James, Jennifer, Teresa, and Tracy. Congratulations to you, and thanks for visiting Tillicum!
Tonight’s theme was Personal Growth, chosen by our very able chair, Susan, who led the meeting on time and on topic, with excellent bridging between roles. This was a very full agenda and compliments to Susan on a job well done!
Christine as Grammarian chose Aggrandize (v.) meaning to make appear greater, to increase power or influence over, with the example: Some people use personal growth opportunities for personal and professional aggrandizement. Well used throughout the evening, aggrandize has found itself in the club vocabulary! Good job Christine collecting fines for those uhms and ahs that still persist now matter how we try to avoid them!
Maurice chaired the Business Meeting at which the election of officers for December 2008 to June 2009 took place, and we offer our congratulations to the upcoming executive:

Rosemary, as Toastmaster, introduced three program speakers: George with his Ice Breaker (very well done), Natalie with her Roast to her daughter prior to her wedding, and Rod, who delivered a well thought out PowerPoint presentation on his personal and professional growth, attributed to Toastmasters. All excellent deliveries and we congratulate Natalie on the Best Speaker Award, and Mariam as Best Evaluator for her evaluation of Natalie’s speech. Nice job by all speakers and evaluators!
Please note that the Christmas Party at Unity is scheduled for Monday, December 8, and Antonella and Mariam will be on hand to speak with you about your potluck contribution and suggestions for games, gifts, etc., so please liaise with them to prepare for an enjoyable night!
Jinjing will chair the November 24 meeting with the theme Shopping Tips, so please assist her when she calls on you to fulfill roles.
